I am having issues following an install of an NT4 disk image (using Ghost) of
a physical PC onto a Virtual PC (using VPC2007). The PC actually boots OK and
I can use the machine as normal. However it will not allow me anything more
than 16 colours even with 640x480 resolution. The machine I took it from had
a bespoke video card (its an industrial PC) but once I booted I installed the
S3 video adaptor driver but no joy, every time I reboot I get a max of 16
colours.

I am trying to use the VPC to reconfigure an industrial machine (used as a
graphical interface for an industrial machine) that has been sent overseas,
once it gets to the destination I want to have a new image that I can load
back onto it that has all the latest modifications that the client has
requested in the 6 weeks that it has been in transit to site. I thought this
was a good use for VPC but the issues I am experiencing with graphics are
proving that it is not as flexible as I first thought. The fact that I cannot
get the correct graphics level means I have to recompile all the graphic
displays to suit the new display resolution.

Please can someone advise?

Have you tried installing the VPC 2004 SP1 version of the virtual machine
additions? You can get them from Steve Jain's wonderful website at
http://vpc.essjae.com/. NT4 Workstation was support in VPC 2004 but is not
in VPC 2007.

You can also use these drivers. Work very well in Vmware/VPC.

You need to install the VPC Additions to get better graphics, but
there's a kicker here, the Additions that come with VPC2007 don't
support NT4, you have to get the Additions for VPC2004.

Have you installed the NT4 Additions...? N.B. NT isn't a supported guest in
VPC2007, so you'll have to use the old VPC2004 Additions, which you can
download from Steve Jain's site:
