I have a freshly setup Virtual PC running XP Pro.
Setup of the Virtual PC and subsequent installation of XP Pro and all
updates proceeded without any errors however I have a very annoying problem.
The Virtual PC seems unable to remember the selected screen resolution
(currently 1600 = x 1024). Everytime I start my VPC the screen resolution is
reset to 640 x 480.

How can I fix this ???

Have you installed the virtual machine additions?

Answer = Yes! It was the first thing I did after I installed XP.

I have to say that I am underwhelmed by the lack of response to this, the
most basic, of questions and I am also wondering what this lack of response
means:

(1) Contrary to Microsoft's assertions, nobody from the Microsoft
establishment bothers to monitor their forums?

(2) Microsoft isn't really isn't interested in supporting its Virtual
Machine software offerings and, as a consequence of this, anybody seriously
interested in virtual machine operations should only consider VMWare?

(3) This is a serious software problem that can't be fixed and this version
[the 2007 version] is hopelessly defective?

After all, you have to wonder don't you?

They do managed newsgroups, but they drop by here as just friends. Ben
Armstrong does visit some. The public newsgroups are user to user groups.

No, I don't wonder. I use the ng for its self-support purposes.

Glad I'm not the only one with this problem.

I created a Vista VM on a Vista host with a 1680 x 1050 monitor. Then I took
the vhd to a Server 2008 host with a smaller monitor. The Vista guest always
boots with a wide screen and I have to logon and reset it every time.

True, I'm going from big to small, but it looks like the same problem.
