I'm not 100% sure this is a Leopard problem but---I can no longer
access the internet from my VPC running XP. Has worked "great" for 3
years. Now I can't seem to connect. Maybe it's a Mac side problem or
an XP problem. I can access Mac files from the PC and vice versa. Is
there a list of things to try somewhere for VPC/internet problems? I
downloaded 7.0.3 somewhere along the line.

And another related question: does the local workgroup name on the PC
side have to agree with whatever is on the Mac side? Seems like it
should, but I don't know how that connection to the DHCP server is
made from the PC side. Any help would be appreciated.

Oops. Don't know where that author name came from. Sorry

Sounds like you may be experiencing DNS problems. Do some ping tests
and let us know the results.

After forcing the DNS setting to my router's IP address, I'm now back
in business. Thanks for the suggestion. I must admit that I diddled
with lots of settings without knowing what the result would be before
getting things working again. 'tis a mystery why after 3 years the
connection was lost. The VPC has a (to me) weird IP address, but when
I changed it to the range my router uses and other stuff on my
wireless network, I again lost the internet connection from my VPC.
So, I obviously changed it back. I thought the VPC IP address would
show up in my Linksys DHCP Clients table with the rest of my stuff but
no. Oh, well. Wish I was smart enough to know this stuff, but I'm
just happy it's working again.
