VPC 7 crashing at install on G4 running 10.3.9

Hi all,

I just installed Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac Version 7, but when my Mac automatically reboots after the installation, Virtual PC immediately crashes - even before it gets to the Setup Assistant. When I try to open the program again, same thing. When I erase VPC and reinstall, I get the same results.

I'm running Mac OS 10.3.9 on a Dual 533 MHz PPC G4 with 640 MB SDRAM.

I _do_ have a Digidesign 001 audio interface plugged into a PCI slot, and I'm routing Quicktime and iTunes through that, using Digi CoreAudio Manager. I wonder if _that_ could be the problem - perhaps VirtualPC can't figure out my audio setup?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! I'm copying Virtual PC's complete error report below:

Yup. As soon as it hit the audio files, it crashed. Disconnect the
Digidesign unit.

Thanks, Paul. I don't know my way around an error report, but I can see that, now that you've pointed it out.

Much appreciated! Wish there was another way around the problem, but I've grown used to third-party audio hardware causing software confusion like this....l
