When I start VPC it does not show the console although it is on the taskbar.
Right clicking on the icon and selecting "Show Virtual PC Console" also
doesn't show the console. Right clicking on the taskbar icon and trying to
move it doesn't do anything other than put the mouse pointer in the top left
hand position but threes nothing there to click on to move.

Using switch between windows/alt-tab I can see the console window but when I
try to select it, it brings up the last window I had in focus instead.

Anyone have any ideas how I can get it back?

Thanks,
Chris.

Maybe the window console is set to display itself out of the visible screen.
Take a look at the file:

C:\Documents and Settings\__Name_Of_Your_Windows_Account__\Application
Data\Microsoft\Virtual PC\Options.xml

and make sure that the values for the section are reasonable; for
example:

575
0
0
true
359

Thanks Sylvain! It worked a treat for me on Windows Vista.

But the path is a bit different on Vista:
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Virtual PC

Cheers
Ian

Thanks,
My file was in the location you gave above and after changing both the
left/top settings from 4294935296 to 0 it is shown on the screen again.

Thanks,
Chris.

Fantastic, I have been loking to a solution to this on and off for 6 months. I thought I would give it another go.

Thanks so much for the info, it is a bit difficult to create a new machine without the console.

I have been copying a base machine and stripping out what I dont want to create new ones.

Thanks Again Smile
